2010 One Lowell World Cup

The ONE Lowell World Cup 2010 will be a 24 Team International Soccer Tournament held at Cawley Stadium in the city of Lowell. This is the fourth year of the tournament, with each year drawing more competitive teams and larger crowds. The tournament will take place on Sunday, August 1st and Saturday and Sunday, August 7th and 8th. Find out more at http://www.onelowellsoccercup.org/

Applications Available for Immigration Commission!

The City of Lowell has announced their search for residents to serve on the newly established Immigration Commission. This is a great opportunity to serve your community and your city, by advocating for immigrants and advising our city leaders on policy issues of concern to the immigrant and refugee communities in Lowell.

The deadline is May 7th at 5:00pm.

This is an amazing opportunity for newcomers to Lowell to have a voice in those policies that impact their lives, and will be a vital step in developing leadership in newcomer communities that can lead to elected representation.

.the Director of the Center for Research on Peace Education in Haifa, Israel,will speak about how bi-national sports teams are one of the most effective tools at creating peace. The mixed teams dispel stereotypes, encourage cooperation, and facilitate positive interactions. Professor Salomon is this year’s Greeley Scholar for Peace Studies at UMass Lowell. He received the 2001 Israel Award for his work in education and is widely recognized as an expert and innovator in peace education.

Immigration Commission Re-Established in Lowell

Unanimous vote by Lowell City Council

On Tuesday, March 23^rd, the Lowell City Council voted unanimously to re-establish the Immigration Commission.
